Week 10

Week 10

This week we did work in psd, html and css. Pressing 'F12' will bring up the inspect element table (a nice little short-cut). In psd, we were shown how a professional webstie would be planned and gridded out. Downloading the 16 column grid from 960 is a good way to go. If the psd is measured in anything but pixels, you can change it by going into Edit > preferences > "Pixels". For colour pallets, Windows > Extensions > kuler.

If planning on making my own pattern, create a small (100 x 100px) new layout and do a simple, repeatable pattern. Then go Edit > define pattern > name... > Layer style > pattern overlay > Apply.
Or just go to subtlepatterns.com and download a pattern from there.

A note for html: COMMENT ON EVERYTHING!! Make it clear what you are doing. To have a small icon in the tab of the page, save a 20x20 png, call it favicon, and place it outside of all folders.

In photoshop, using the slice tool can be used to get images with transparent backgrounds. Slice tool is linked with the crop tool. Save as 'web ...' > PNG-24.
